LG CNS has signed a partnership with a local security software vendor with the intent of creating a secure Internet of Things (IoT) platform. LG CNS is the integration affiliate of LG Group and will collaborate with the software provider to add new features into their current IoT system.
LG CNS Aims to Create a More Secure IoT Platform
LG CNS will partner with their new partner, whose name is not disclosed to the public yet, to add new features to the company’s existing Internet of Things security management system. The security vendor will provide physical unclonable function (PUF) technology to the technology giant. This feature helps to detect tampering with IoT devices and is used mainly in enterprise applications where a high-security level is required.
Growing security concerns are alarming large manufacturers and technology giants into implementing secure platforms for Internet of Things devices. At the same Samsung have partnered with a security vendor to strengthen their IoT platform.
LG CNS provides many security services in universal identity modules and electronic passports. Last year the company introduced its IoT security platform. The new deal will strengthen its capabilities by adding firmware protection measures as well as device authentication features.
The PUF protection is a hardware-based setup that utilizes custom-made algorithms and specialized software that help to protect the ecosystem from cyber security threats. LG CNS will develop a plan to apply the innovative technology to its IoT platform. The company aims to finish development of the PUF-converged security features by the end of this year.
LG CNS is an important member of LG Group and operates under the “Telecommunications and Services” division. It is natural for this vendor to make strategic partnerships improve the overall reputation and services of all affiliate companies. LG CNS at the moment is Korea’s largest IT service provider and has implemented various large-scale IT projects in the country. It also plays a major role in the Korean government’s e-Korea initiative.
