Security researchers have identified a new dangerous ransomware which uses the .oops extension. The so-called Oops ransomware is currently under an active investigation by various teams around the world. At the moment we only have limited information about it and we cannot conclude if this is an independent development or is part of a larger malware family.
Upon infection the virus follows the typical infection behavior patterns – it uses its encryption engine to target various sensitive user data which is encrypted using the AES cipher. The following file type extensions are affected and renamed using the .oops extension:

STEP III: Enter Windows Task Manager and Stop Malicious Processes

1) Hit the following key combination: CTRL+SHIFT+ESC

3) When you find suspicious process right click on it and select “Open File Location”
4) Go back to Task Manager and end the malicious process. Right click on it again and choose “End Process”
