HavocCrypt Ransomware Description

HavocCrypt Ransomware is a new malware threat developed by a programmer known as Royal Binarys. It is of unknown origin and we assume that this is an independent creation.

The virus follows the usual infection patterns by targeting certain file types and encrypts them using the AES cipher. The victims are then extorted to pay a ransom fee to restore their files.

We do not have the full list of user data that is affected by the encryption module. However we assume that it includes all documents, photos, audio, videos, backup images, databases, configuration files and etc.

All affected data receive the .HavocCrypt extension. The ransomware note is then crafted and displayed to the user:

HavocCrypt Ransomware Distribution

The HavocCrypt Ransomware is distributed via email spam messages and infected installers. This means that likely infection sources can be one of the following:

  • Spam Email Messages – They contain attachments or hyperlinks that point to the infected binaries.
  • Phishing Emails – They use various social engineering tricks to make the targets open up infected attachments or links that bear the ransomware.
  • Infected Software Installers and Updates – Various hacked or malicious sites and P2P networks often distribute pirate contents that is also infected with ransomware such as this one.

STEP II: Show Hidden Files

1)

      Open

        ” and mark “

STEP III: Enter Windows Task Manager and Stop Malicious Processes

1)

      Hit the following key combination:

      When you find suspicious process right click on it and select “

Open File Location

      Go back to

Task Manager

      and end the malicious process. Right click on it again and choose “

    Next you should go folder where the malicious file is located and delete it
