FLKR Ransomware Description
The FLKR Ransomware is a recently discovered malware threat that has been identified in several attack campaigns. It uses a 522-bit Blowfish cipher to encrypt target user files.
It addds the [email protected]_ file extension to the compromised files. Upon infection it also changes several registry entries on the compromised machines and sets up persistence by autoloading when Windows boots.
The encryption engine targets the most popular file types that are used by users such as various documents, audio and video files, settings and etc.
The virus skips the following located in the following folders:
- Windows
- Program Files
- Program files (x86)
- System volume information
- Documents and settings
- Users
- Install
- Music
- Intel
- adfs
- cpqsystem
FLKR Ransomware also ignores all .txt, .mp3 and .avi files.
The ransomware note is located in a crafted INSTRUCT.txt file which contains the following message:
Information is encrypted with a strong password.
To decrypt it e-mail: [email protected] for instructions.
Reserve communication channel – this jabber: [email protected]
Use jabber only when conversation via email is not possible

STEP I: Start the PC in Safe Mode with Network

STEP II: Show Hidden Files

– Select “Folder and search options”
– Select the “View” tab
– Go under “Hidden files and folders” and mark “Show hidden files and folders” option

– Open “View” tab
– Mark “Hidden items” option
4) Click “Apply” and then “OK” button
STEP III: Enter Windows Task Manager and Stop Malicious Processes

1) Hit the following key combination: CTRL+SHIFT+ESC
2) Get over to “Processes”
3) When you find suspicious process right click on it and select “Open File Location”
4) Go back to Task Manager and end the malicious process. Right click on it again and choose “End Process”
5) Next you should go folder where the malicious file is located and delete it
