DynA-Crypt Ransomware Description

The DynA-Crypt ransomware is a newly discovered threat which was just reported by Karsten Hahn, a noteworthy security specialist. At the moment the security analysis is sill ongoing and we do not know if the malware uses code that is derived from a previously known family.

Also we are not sure what cipher the encryption engine uses and how it affects the user data. In the most common scenario the viruses encrypt the popular file types that are likely to contain sensitive user data – documents, photos, music, configuration files, backup images and etc. The list of target extensions is the following:

.001, .avi, .csv, .doc, .docx, .jpeg,.jpg, .m4a, .mdb, .mkv, .mov, .mp3, .mp4, .msg, .odt, .pdf, .png, .ppt, .pptx, .pst, .rar, .xls, .xlsx, .zip

Karsten reports that the virus also installs a backdoor onto the victim system which allows remote control access of the affected computer by the hackers. The virus uses various PowerShell commands to execute various built-in tasks.

The following ranasomware note is crafted and shown to the victims when the encryption process is complete:
