Cryptorium Ransomware Description
Cryptorium ransomware is newly discovered malware strain that is still under investigation by the researchers. The virus follows typical the typical behavior pattern that is shared among the majority of this type of malwares. Upon infection the Cryptorium Ransomware encrypts target user files and appends the .??? extension to the compromised user data.
The encryption engine targets the most widely used user file types – various multimedia (photos, audio and video), documents, images, database files and etc.
The ransomware note is presented with a screenlocker window which reads the following:
CRYPTORIUM
Oh no, you had bad luck today. All your files are encrypted!
But! I have not deleted them yet! Purchase a “GBO KEY” to decrypt your files.
If not all encrypted files will be permanently deleted within 32h and then there is no way to recover them!

Cryptorium Ransomware Distribution
The first malware samples were identified in December 2016 being delivered primarily to English-speaking computer users.The virus is distributed as an infected software installer primarily through spam email campaigns, malicious ads and untrusted downloaded sites and P2P networks.

STEP I: Start the PC in Safe Mode with Network

STEP II: Show Hidden Files

– Select “Folder and search options”
– Select the “View” tab
– Go under “Hidden files and folders” and mark “Show hidden files and folders” option

– Open “View” tab
– Mark “Hidden items” option
4) Click “Apply” and then “OK” button
STEP III: Enter Windows Task Manager and Stop Malicious Processes

1) Hit the following key combination: CTRL+SHIFT+ESC
2) Get over to “Processes”
3) When you find suspicious process right click on it and select “Open File Location”
4) Go back to Task Manager and end the malicious process. Right click on it again and choose “End Process”
5) Next you should go folder where the malicious file is located and delete it
