BrainCrypt Ransomware Description
Braincrypt ransomware is a new virus of unknown origin that we have just detected. The security reports state that it is still under investigation by the malware experts who are studying the threat.
What we know is that it uses the AES cipher to encrypt target user files which receive the .braincrypt extension. Braincrypt follows the pattern which other recent viruses have used – it does not state a specific ransomware sum from the victims. Rather it blackmails them to contact the criminal developers via an anonymous email.
The crafted ransomware message reads the following:
YOUR FILES WERE ENCRYPTED.
TO DECRYPT FILES, PLEASE, CONTACT US WRITING ON THIS EMAIL: [email protected]
