[email protected] Ransomware Description
The [email protected] Ransomware is an encrypting Trojan that is named after the used email address in the ransom note – [email protected].
The initial security analysis shows that this a new strain of the Globe family of ransomware. Upon infection it searches for target user files which are then encrypted using the AES and RSA ciphers. The security experts note that the virus targets more nearlt five hundred (500) different file types. This not only means that the majority of local files are compromised but also that critical functions of important software and the operating system are likely to be affected.
The affected files receive the [email protected] extension.
As of this moment we do not have yet the complete ransomware note. According to infection statistics the infection rate is relatively low.
